Metal badge reels come in a variety of
flavors. First, there’s the plastic body with aluminum face
badge reels. Theses are basically economy badge reels with an
anodized aluminum disc adhered to the top. Anodization is a
process used to colorize aluminum while also increasing its
surface durability. These badge reels are available both blank
and with custom imprints. Laser engraving is method of choice
for customizing anodized aluminum. The laser works to remove the
color from the surface exposing the aluminum underneath. Good
laser engraved images show up “frosty” white.
The other style of metal badge reel is referred to as a button
real. This reel is available in both a chrome and brass finish.
It’s smaller than the economy reels and typically has a spring
clip on the back. The cord is made from reinforced nylon and is
available with either a vinyl strap clip or snap hook at the end
of the cord. These reels are available blank as well as with a
full color custom imprint.
